Purpose of Position

The Membership Engagement Director at Elizabeth Baptist Church (EBC) is crucial in fostering meaningful connections within the church community. This role requires innovative thinking, team building, and a passion for connecting people online and in person. As a position of influence and leadership, it demands exceptional relational, organizational, and communication skills. A substantial work and ministry ethic, characterized by quality time investment, is essential.

Principal Responsibilities

The Membership Engagement Director oversees the processes, teams, and systems that help individuals connect with God, each other, and their purpose. This role involves continuously seeking effective ways to improve and simplify the church’s assimilation process, ensuring that new and unchurched individuals can seamlessly integrate into the community. The director also manages services where many first-time guests and new members will have their initial experience with the church, creating meaningful connections and maximizing both online and in-person services to reach and minister to the most significant number of people.

Specific Duties

  • Evaluate Systems: Ensure departmental systems and procedures align with the church’s mission, vision, values, and strategy.
  • Guest Engagement: Welcome guests and new members, provide helpful information, and help them feel at home, fostering bonds through relationships.
  • Program Oversight: Manage guest services, the new member program, and short- 45-minute TEAM groups. Train and encourage volunteers to discover and use their spiritual gifts for ministry.
  • Member Connection: Facilitate connections between new and existing pre-members and members and the church's ongoing ministry.
  • Maintain Contact: Collaborate with the membership/realm coordinator and ministry members to establish procedures for maintaining contact with guests, newcomers, and members to prevent disengagement.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively solve problems, improve system efficiency, delegate tasks, support team leaders, and brainstorm innovative solutions.
  • Follow-Up: Develop methods to identify and follow up with inactive members in consultation with the assimilation ministry member and discipleship coordinator.
  • Decision Counseling: During or after services, serve as a decision counselor for individuals seeking salvation or church membership.
  • Scriptural Familiarity: Be well-versed in Scriptures that explain how to become a Christian and provide assurance of salvation.
  • Training Development: Develop and provide training for those involved in the assimilation ministry. Offer ongoing support and materials and plan quarterly courses or seminars to train and reinforce discipleship methods and the church’s assimilation program.
  • Biblical Counseling: Provide spiritual counseling to church members and refer them to professional counselors when necessary.
  • Event Leadership: Lead Super Saturdays, New Members’ Classes, New Members’ Fellowship Brunches, Baptism Services, and other events to connect members.
  • Data Management: Input data into Realm, respond to member concerns, and maintain regular contact with members via phone and email.
  • Action and Reporting: Analyze problems and needs, take timely action based on objective data, and inform the Division Director of actions.
  • Worship Participation: Participate in weekly worship.
  • Prayer Support: Pray for the pastor, staff, volunteers, members, and the church.

Qualifications / Knowledge

  • Spiritual Gifts: Administration, Evangelism, Teaching, Pastoral Ministry, and Exhortation
  • College Degree and 3-5 years of ministry experience required
  • Passionate about efficiency and excellence in ministry
  • Committed to leading people to Christ and aiding others in their spiritual growth
  • Personally committed to maintaining a moral and spiritual lifestyle as outlined in Scripture
  • Willing to work harmoniously with elders, ministries, support staff, and fellow ministry leaders
  • Engaged in regular study of God’s Word and committed to making disciples who make disciples
  • Dedicated to continuous personal, professional, and spiritual growth

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
